FAQs

Like anything new you may be a bit nervous and not exactly sure what to expect. But don’t worry, you’re in for a great time. Our staff will take care of you from the time you arrive, helping you get ‘geared up’ and explaining the rules, how the equipment works and suggesting games. They’ll also be with you during the actual game play so you can always ask them questions at any time.

Regular paintball uses a larger paintball (.68 calibre) fired at a higher velocity (280FPS) giving it a longer range. But if a player is hit it can sting more than low impact.

Low Impact utilizes a smaller paintball (.50 calibre) and is fired at lower velocity (190 FPS) so although it does not shoot as far as regular it also has very little sting if a player is hit.

Bazooka Ball offers the fun of paintball without any sting at all. It features a regular marker with a special muzzle and shoots a soft 2” “Nerf” style ball. Games are very similar to paintball and operate in a special, private field. Bazooka Ball is recommended if any of your group are under the age of 8 or for anyone who wants the fun of paintball without any of the “ouch”.

No problem. If there are other groups on the fields we’ll have you join up with one of them. We try and make sure the age range is similar whenever possible.

No problem. We will just join you in with another group who is already playing. Or if it is a slow time of day and we have sufficient referees you can play with just two people and still enjoy many of our smaller fields.

That will depend on how busy our fields are and if you reserved your group ahead of time. Crossfire endeavors to keep all groups happy, but occasionally when it is busier we do have to combine groups together. At least until things slow down. However, we never place groups together who are playing different velocities. For instance, at no time would a low impact group be combined with a regular impact group.

And Crossfire does reserve the right to combine groups when it deems it necessary.

Absolutely. In fact it is rated as safer than bowling (US Consumer Product Safety Commission). Crossfire Adventure Paintball is a fully insured paintball facility which complies with all safety requirements: safety is our first priority (having fun is our second). We have a perfect safety record and aim to keep it that way. Our referees accompany you on the fields and oversee safety rules at all times.

We carry 'low impact' equipment which uses a smaller ball and a lower velocity. This takes the sting out of the game so players as young as 8 years can now play safely and without fear of the "ouch" factor.

Persons under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their Liability Form. You can bring the signed form with you on the day you play.

If you are under 18 years of age you need to bring in a completed Liability Form that has been signed by your parent or guardian. These are available at registration or you can print one off ‘here’ and bring it with you. If you are 18 and over we'll still need you to sign a liability form. You can download it from this website or sign one when you check-in at Crossfire

Other than that you really don’t need to bring anything special. We have all the gear you’ll need including clothing, footwear, guns, masks, paintballs, etc.

We recommend you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that covers any bare skin. Shirts with long sleeves and a pair long pants with a comfortable sneaker or running shoes are recommended. But don’t worry if you don’t have the proper gear, we rent cool camouflage clothing and even have sneakers available in men’s, women’s and children’s sizes for a nominal charge.

Sure! You can bring your own marker (gun), mask or any other paintball equipment you may have. Our staff will chronograph your marker to the same velocity as our guns so all is fair on the playing field and we only allow single or semi fire guns. No automatics. Masks must be safety certified for use playing paintball.

Bringing your own equipment will save you a few bucks off your equipment fees too. See our Prices section for rates.

Sorry, field paint only. That means only paint purchased at our field is allowed to be used on our fields. But if you have paintballs left over after you finish you can use that same paint the next time you visit Crossfire. Using paintballs not purchased from Crossfire will result in your immediate dismissal (unless special permission is granted beforehand) from Crossfire without reimbursement.

With our new "Low impact" equipment there is hardly any 'ouch factor 'at all. This features a specialized gun and ammo (.50 cal rather than 68 cal.) and makes it perfect for younger or less experienced players.

For regular velocity paintball this is the most commonly asked questions by new players. Everyone has heard stories of how a paintball smarts. Well to be frank, if a paintball is fired at close range it may sting a bit. We have a ‘surrender’ rule which limits the distance players are allowed to fire at an opponent. And actually many times a person may not even be aware that they have been hit until they check their clothing or mask for paint splatter. Loose clothing absorbs much of the momentum of the paintball and protects the player as well. Your face and ears are well protected with our masks and additional protection such as vests, gloves and headgear are available for a small additional charge.

Even in the unlikely event you do manage to receive a solid hit it is comparable to a bee sting that only stings for a few seconds.

We also have our guns set at two different velocities, low impact (180 FPS) for younger players, and for teens and adults players (280 FPS).

Paintballs consist of a outer gelatin shell and a coloured interior liquid. Although they are called paintballs there is no actual paint involved. And they are biodegradable. They are even safe to eat though I’m not sure why anyone would want to. They taste terrible! The coloured liquid easily washes out of most fabrics in a regular washing machine although we caution players not to wear white or light coloured clothing or items that require dry cleaning.

The liquid in the paint does not stain clothing and is biodegradable so it washes right out in a regular washing machine. We do recommend you don’t wear white or very light clothing or fabrics that state ‘dry clean only’ just to be sure.

One of the beauties of paintball is basically anyone 8 years of age and over can play- Guys, Gals, Children, Teens, Moms and Dads, Grandpa and Grandma, little cousin Jennie and wacky Uncle Dave. One person can come and join with a larger group or bring your friends or family for a group outing. It’s great fun for Sports teams, Schools, Businesses, Church Groups, Birthday, Bachelor and Stagette parties. The more, the merrier.

For insurance reasons we cannot allow players under six years of age to participate.

Our customers range in age from 6 to 80. Older adults with mobility limitations can still enjoy the game since it doesn’t necessarily involve a lot of movement or running. Many players prefer to conceal themselves in one position and snipe at the opposing team or provide covering fire for their team. This all adds to the fun and the realism of the battle.

Persons under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their Liability Form. You can bring the signed form with you on the day you play.

There are a variety of games you can play. ‘Elimination’ and ‘Capture the Flag’ are the most popular. In ‘Elimination’ the group is divided into a ‘red’ team and a ‘yellow’ team using coloured armbands. Each team starts at opposing ends of the playing field and the team who eliminates all the members of the opposing team wins.

‘Capture the Flag’ involves much the same play as ‘elimination’ but the mission is to eliminate the opposing players, capture their flag and return it to your home base to win. If the player carrying the flag is tagged then they must drop the flag on the ground in the spot where they were hit. It can then be picked up by either team for a race back to their home base to win the game.

Your referee can suggest any number of other games such as ‘Medic’, ‘Resurrection’, ‘Terminator’, ‘Capture the Base’, ‘VIP’ and many more. Just ask them for details. They’d be happy to make suggestions.

It really depends on what field you play, what game and how many are in your group. On average most games last between 10 and 20 minutes but you can set a timeline to a game if you like. Allow more time for games in ‘Heartbreak Hill’ or ‘The Gulley’ where it is more difficult to locate opponents than a game in a more open field such as ‘The Farm’ or ‘The Fuel Depot’.

Our price includes your equipment and entrance for a full day so you can stay as long as you like. But on average groups should allow between 2 and 4 hours. You should allow about 15-20 minutes for registration and getting your gear, and another 10 minutes for the safety talk. Then you’ll be taken out to the staging area where you choose which fields you want to play first. Then it’s up to your group to decide how many games and which fields they want to play.

You can play any of them, or all of them, as many times as you like. Most times players will try each field once to determine which ones they like the best. Then they play their favorites several times; sometimes playing different games or having the teams change ends after each game. View our Fields.

Each team receives a red, blue or a yellow team armband. But just like a real battle make sure you look to see the team colour before shooting at them. If you accidentally shoot one of your own teammates they (and you) are still in the game though they probably don’t appreciate it.

Our paintball complex covers many, many acres and each field is a different size and offers a completely different scenario. The woods of ‘Heartbreak Hill’ is our largest and great for big groups. ‘Debris Village’ and ‘The Fuel Depot’ are our smallest, perfect for smaller teams and even one-on-one action. The remaining five are of similar size but with very different terrain and playability. You really need to try them all to determine your personal favorites. View our Fields.

Most people start with our basic package which includes all the equipment you need to play and 100 paintballs. How quickly 100 paintballs lasts you is entirely up to your playing style. Some people can play 4 or 5 games with that amount and others who are more ‘trigger happy’ can go through 100 paintballs in a couple of games. But don’t worry you can always purchase more paintballs. And of course you can even but in bulk for additional savings.
